Asmall attended The International Qur’anic Braille Conference
held in Istanbul, Turkey from the 3 – 8 February 2013
along with the representatives of 12 other countries which
was hosted by the Turkiye Beyazay Dernegi Foundation.
This was the first time a conference of this nature had been
held. Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand,
Pakistan, Palestine, Iran, India, Yemen and the United Kingdom
attended this conference to discuss problems faced in the
production of Braille Qur’aans.

Worlds. Peace and salutations be upon our Beloved Prophet Nabi Muhammed
(SAW).
We were present at the World Blind Union - International
Council for Education of People with Visual Impairment 2012 General
Assembly which was held at the Imperial Queens Park Hotel in Bangkok,
Thailand on the 12 – 16 November 2012. This conference was
attended by every major organization and company associated with
the Blind and visually impaired globally.
We were greatly honoured by the visit of Moulana
Abdullah Ismail Patel, the ex-rector of Daarul Uloom Falah-e-Darain,
Tadkheshwar, India, on the 8th September 2012. He is one of the
foremost Islamic thinkers in the world today and has been an inspiration
to the founding of Madrassa An-Noor for the Blind. Our principal
Moulana Hassan Murchie is his student.
Moulana was given a tour of our institute showing
him the different departments and was informed about the far reaching
Dawah outreach programmes carried out in over 12 countries around
the world...
Madrassa An-Noor for the Blind attended the South
African Ulama Forum (SAUF) that took place in Gaborone, Botswana
between the 14 - 16th of September 2012. This is an Ulama Forum
wherein challenges and opportunities pertaining to countries in
the Southern African region are discussed.
Our vice principal Moulana Zaahid Suleman facilitated
a PowerPoint presentation on the teaching of the visually impaired.
Great emphasis was placed on the necessity of networking in serving
the blind of our respected countries...
All praise is due to Allah (SWT), the Lord of
the worlds and Peace and Salutations be upon our Beloved Prophet
Muhammed (PBUH).On Wednesday ,the 14th of June 2012, our teachers
visited a farm at Rose Boom, which is situated near Ladysmith in
KwaZulu Natal.
There is a little “Maktab” operating
from a simple mud house where little children are learning about
the teachings of Islam and to read the Quraan...
Thursday the 10th of May 2012 was a very happy
day at Madrassa An-Noor for the Blind. Our friend, Ashraf Dhoda
brought a horse in a trailer all the way from a farm in Newcastle
as a gift for our students....
Our Braille service manager, Shiraaz Asmall and
our principal Moulana Hassan Murchie, attended the ICEB (International
Council on English Braille) conference that was held in Samrand
as observers between the 6th and 10th of May 2012...
We visited the Eldoraigne Muslim Trust to meet
with Layla Sutton, a young girl who is learning at this Maktab.
Although she is the only Blind girl among all her
sighted peers, her Principal, Moulana Qasim Desai and Muallima (Teacher)
confirm that she is very bright and orally recites all her Duaas,
Kalimahs, and Surahs excellently...
This captivating series of well researched books consists
of the following titles. Tell me about the Prophet
Muhammed PBUH, the Prophet Yusuf PBUH, the Prophet
Moosa PBUH, The Creation, Islamic History and Haj."
